Mud logging is the process of taking core samples from the bottom of a wellbore. These samples are then analyzed to determine the composition of the rocks and fluids present in the formation. Mud logs provide important data regarding the geologic structure of the subsurface formations surrounding the wellbore. Mud logs are typically taken during the drilling phase of a well.
